Providence Women exists for women who honestly want to work the 12 Steps and Principles to walk themselves into a new life. We are serious in our belief that honest, ongoing 12 Step work can grow any woman into a woman of Strength, Dignity and Peace. We treat each woman with dignity and respect, and encourage each individual to rise to the occasion.
We provide in-house Recovery and life-skill groups, along with random drug and alcohol testing. In addition, there is ample opportunity for one-on-one dialog and mentoring. We also provide one group dinner each week, with a house meeting afterward (Thursdays, Ladies’ Night In.)
With a monthly cost of $750*, Providence Women allows residents to work local jobs while enjoying the accomplishment and responsibility of paying their own rent. The idea is to help women become integrated into society, solid in their own identity, and able to use their gifts and strengths to help others.
Portland, Maine has a thriving Recovery population, with meetings all times of the day and night. From young to not so young, men and women are finding freedom from their addictions in Greater Portland.
*Move in cost is: one month’s rent ($750) plus $100 non-refundable intake fee, plus $400 Security Deposit, which is refundable if appropriate move-out notice is given. (See Living Agreement.) The second month’s rent will be pro-rated so the rent renews on the 1st of each month. We require a three-month commitment, and women are welcome to stay longer. Six months to a year is often sufficient time to prepare to live on one’s own.
